Asdrubal Cabrera’s hot bat keeps upping his trade value

What likely are Asdrubal Cabrera’s final days with the Mets are going exactly according to plan.

Team officials expect to trade the veteran infielder by the July 31 non-waiver deadline, and Cabrera’s recent play certainly hasn’t hurt his value.

On Thursday, he smashed his team-leading 17th homer as part of a 2-for-4 performance in the Mets’ 5-4 loss to the Nationals.

The Red Sox, who have a need for an infield bat, had a scout in attendance. The Mariners, Phillies, Cubs and Indians were among the other playoff contenders represented at Citi Field.

Once Cabrera is dealt, the Mets expect to audition Jeff McNeil at second base. The 26-year-old McNeil entered Thursday batting .393 in 21 games since his promotion to Triple-A Las Vegas.
