Buck Showalter is in a hurry, and he’s not in the mood to wait for anyone.
The former Manager of the Year currently is guiding an Orioles squad tied for the second-worst record in the majors (13-30), and all the losing seems to be getting to him.
In the fifth inning Thursday, with the Orioles already down 3-0, starter Kevin Gausman gave up a three-run homer to the Red Sox’s Xander Bogaerts en route to a 6-2 loss.
That was all Showalter needed to see, and he went out to the mound to get his pitcher – before Bogaerts had even finished his home run trot.
Video of the moment shows the Orioles manager crossing in front of Bogaerts as the Boston infielder rounds third base.
Showalter may not want to cruise through these games too fast, though, because if this slump continues, the Orioles may be rushing their manager out of town.
