Davidson a live underdog

Davidson a live underdog

If you’re looking for some more stability, I have some wonderful coin recommendations.

Davidson (+2½) over Rhode Island: The Rams let down after clinching their first-ever outright Atlantic 10 regular season title, and they’re finding out how hard it is just to flip the switch back on again. Since starting the season 21-3, the Rams are 4-3, and haven’t again resembled the group that looked like they could make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament for most of the season.

Since starting the season 10-9, Davidson has gone 10-2, with its only losses at Rhode Island, and in triple-overtime to St. Bonaventure. The Wildcats avenged the loss to the Rams last week, and knocked off the Bonnies in Saturday’s semifinals.

Bob McKillop, who won seven Southern Conference Tournaments, will capture his first in the A-10, and give the conference a third team in Sunday’s bracket.

Penn (-2) over Harvard: Playing your conference tournament on your home court doesn’t always matter. Vermont was just stunned on a last-second shot by UMBC, and St. John’s hasn’t won the Big East Tournament in 18 years. But at the conclusion of the second Ivy League Tournament, expect discussions to resume about moving it from the historic Palestra every now, and again.

The co-regular season champs are evenly matched — splitting their two games — and both looked dominant in their semifinal wins, but more fans, familiar rims, and the ability to sleep in their own bed is enough of a difference for the Quakers to reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 11 years.

Harvard’s only loss in the past 10 games came at Penn, which went undefeated at the Palestra in conference play, and hasn’t lost there since Jan. 20.

Kentucky (-1) over Tennessee: You’re paying a Wildcats tax in the SEC title game — Tennessee won both regular-season meetings — but John Calipari’s kids are coming alive late in the season again, having won six of the past seven games, and will claim their fourth straight conference championship.

This season: 10-12-1
2011-17 record: 199-155-8
