Mother of Morgan Freeman’s slain granddaughter recounts final moments together

Morgan Freeman’s step-granddaughter E’Dena Hines was just getting reconnected with her estranged biological mother when she was murdered by her crazed boyfriend in a Manhattan street, the grieving mom testified during the murder trial Wednesday.

“The day before she was killed, I spent time with her,” said Hine’s mother, Deena Adair, as she gasped for breath while sobbing on the stand in Manhattan Supreme court. “We drove to Jamaica, Queens, to look at my grandparents house” and to “reminisce, to talk about her experiences, our different experiences.”

Adair, who did not raise Hines but began to reconnect with her shortly before the 2015 slaying, recalled how she had parted with her daughter the day before she was killed.

“I said goodbye and we would see each other again,” she said, hyperventilating from grief.

At one point, Adair appeared to pray as she raised her eyes toward heaven and mouthed words to herself on the stand.

The heartfelt testimony comes as accused killer Lamar Davenport fends off second-degree murder charges for the brutal slaughter.

He allegedly plunged a knife into Hines 25 times early Aug. 16, 2015, outside the 162nd Street

Brownstone where they lived, while gripped by a drug-induced psychosis.

“Get out, devils! I cast you out, devils! In the name of Jesus Christ, I cast you out!” he reportedly yelled while allegedly plunged a hunting knife into then-33-year-old Hines.

Hines pleaded with Davenport, her on-again-off-again boyfriend of two years, “Why are you doing this?” as he stabbed her, a witness revealed Tuesday.

Davenport, who is trying for an insanity defense on the grounds he was whacked out on PCP, waived his right to a jury trial, leaving his fate in the hands of Judge Ellen N. Biben.

During Wednesday’s proceedings, the judge was shown a video of Davenport allegedly smoking PCP with pal Raymond Rosario.

Meanwhile, another friend of Davenport’s testified how he dropped by the Washington Heights Brownstone where that night to find Davenport savaging Hines in the street.

“I tried to separate them, I grabbed him by the back of his belt and I pulled him,” said Jared Hamilton, 33, a high-school friend of Davenport.

Hamilton said he managed to pull Davenport off the poor woman, but then he lost his grip and Davenport pounced on her again, continuing to stab her in the torso.

Adair is the daughter of Freeman’s first wife Jeanette Adair Bradshaw and another man, making her Freeman’s step-daughter and Hines the actor’s step-granddaughter.

Freeman adopted Adair, but later divorced Bradshaw and married Myrna Colley-Lee. Colley-Lee eventually adopted and raised Hines.

Davenport faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison if convicted.
