For all the success Seton Hall had the past three seasons, Kevin Willard’s program was missing one thing: a true rim protector.
It landed a potential difference-making one Thursday.
Florida State transfer Ike Obiagu announced his commitment to Seton Hall, giving the Pirates an intimidating presence in the paint beginning with the 2019-20 season. The 7-foot Obiagu will have to sit out this coming season, per NCAA rules, and will have three years of eligibility left.
Obiagu, a former four-star, top-60 recruit who averaged 2.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.1 blocks as a freshman, visited South Orange last weekend and also reportedly was being looked at by Gonzaga, Baylor, Texas A&M, Georgia and Auburn. He had a connection with new assistant coach Tony Skinn, according to a source. Both are Nigerian.
